1.   Halloween originates from the ancient Celtic Festival known as Samhain that was celebrated around Ireland and the UK. October 31st was the eve of their new year. The Celts lit bonfires and wore costumes to protect themselves from spirits. They believed ghosts returned to earth on Samhain.

On Saturday, October 28th, Medford will be having their annual Halloween Parade on Main Street. This parade is so popular it usually brings around 30,000 spectators each year. It consists of 10 marching bands, 40 handcrafted parade floats, and hundreds of marchers dressed in costumes. Anyone can be a marcher in the parade; marcher registration is in front of St. Mary of the Lakes School.
