Brief History on Delran Township, New Jersey

Delran Township is a township in Burlington County, New Jersey.  Delran Township was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 12, 1880, from portions of Cinnaminson Township. Portions of the township were taken to create Riverside on February 20, 1895.The township's name is a portmanteau of the names of the two rivers that have their confluence here: the Delaware River and Rancocas Creek.  Delran Township borders Delanco Township, Riverside Township, Moorestown Township, Willingboro Township, and Cinnaminson Township. Delran also borders the Delaware River. ---New Jersey Transit provides bus service to Philadelphia on the 409 and 419 route.  Although there is no station in Delran, the New Jersey Transit River Line passenger rail runs through Delran along St. Mihiel Drive. Nearby stations in Riverside and Cinnaminson provide passenger service to Trenton and Camden with connecting service via PATCO Speedline to center city Philadelphia.
