Ways to Celebrate Thanksgiving During COVID-19

Happy Thanksgiving

Usually families big and small all get together on Thanksgiving for a grand celebration consisting of all kinds of food and desserts. But this is yet another thing that COVID-19 has come to ruin in 2020, so here are some safe ways of celebrating Thanksgiving.

Virtual Dinner

I know I know, I can already hear it “I’m Zoomed out”, I agree.  It can be very hard to discipline yourself while on a Zoom call. However, you can also utilize Skype, Discord, or any other video conferencing software to eat with your loved ones at a certain time this Thanksgiving. It won’t be nearly as boring as a call to work, I promise.

Household Dinner

It won’t be the same without family members far and wide coming to join you for dinner this year. One upside though, is that the host doesn’t need to make nearly as much food if you just have Thanksgiving with the family members that you live with.

Outdoor Dinner

If you still want to bring your family members together and you won’t be bothered by the impending wintry cold there’s always the option of eating outside. The Farmer’s Almanac states that there will be light flurries that should clear out in time for Thanksgiving Day.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Some things change, some things don’t. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still on like it always is from 9 AM – 12 PM on Thanksgiving. Although one thing has changed, there will be no live audience to attend the parade. But that doesn’t mean that you and your household can’t hang out and watch the parade together this year. You could even have a watch party with some far away family members on Skype, Zoom etc.

This is a really strange time to be living in, but we have to celebrate these holidays in some way or another. All we can do is hope to see all of our loved ones next Thanksgiving.
