Ideas For New Year's Eve 2020

Obviously, we can’t spend New Year’s Eve like usual. A lot of things have been very different this year. Another example is New Year's Eve; it will not consist of hordes of people shoulder-to-shoulder in Times Square.

Although, Times Square will be closed to the public, it doesn’t mean there won’t be a celebration. Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest will be televised on ABC at 8 PM. This year’s performers are Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, and Jimmie Allen. Seacrest will be accompanied by Porter and actress Lucy Hale. Times Square will also be hosting its own commercial webcast starting at 6 PM on its website.

In addition to watching the ball drop here are some other ways to enjoy your New Year’s Celebration in the comfort of your own home.

1. Make Festive Cocktails

New Year’s Eve has always been the time individuals consume dubious amounts of alcohol. Why change that? There are plenty of drinks to enjoy that have specifically been crafted for New Year’s Eve. Here are a few recipes. (Please Drink Responsibly. Don’t Drink & Drive.)

2. Pop Confetti

Yes, it’s annoying. Yes, it’s a hassle to pick it all up. Although, you’re probably going to do it anyway because it’s the one time of the year when popping confetti is actually appropriate. So don’t care what other household members think and POP THAT CONFETTI!

3. Noise Makers

While we’re at the traditional New Year’s section don’t forget the noisemakers. Who doesn’t love making a bunch of noise as soon as the clock strikes midnight.

4. Don’t Forget Resolutions!

2020 hasn’t been a very good year by a longshot, and 2021 isn’t going to magically fix all of the issues that 2020 has brought us. But that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t still have New Year’s Resolutions to help make ourselves become better people in the New Year.

5. Memory Jar

A memory jar is a regular Mason jar that you can decorate and keep over the next 12 months to record your best memories from the upcoming year. You can write down your memories on paper and place it in the jar or you could place little mementos from certain events. (You know if we can actually go to events next year.) It’s a great way to make sure your most treasured memories will never be forgotten.
