How the Internet is Making a Difference in Real Estate

As we all know technology is advancing every day. There are new prototypes and robots being created all the time. But what kind of an impact is technology having on Real Estate these days? Well, for starters technology is what’s bringing you to this page in the first place.

But it goes deeper than just a blog page. Real estate agencies used to list their listings and open houses in the newspapers; this is because that was one of their only ways to get their properties out into the public eye. Times have changed so much because of the latest technology. How many people just look through the newspaper to find property listings anymore? Hardly any.

Now that we have smartphones in our pockets 24/7 we always have access to the worldwide web. This means that with a few taps of our finger we can find a house that’s “right” for us. Thanks to the multiple listing hubs out there, more commonly known as Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, and more real estate listings are all over the internet.  This also includes company websites such as the one you’re on right now.

It’s not just limited to online listings either. Almost everything is going electronic. If someone would like to schedule a showing a property it must be scheduled through an online MLS, or Multiple Listing Service.

The internet also led to the creation of email, obviously.. Email also helps with real estate brokers with gaining popularity within their community. Part of this includes sending newsletters about interesting stories that are going on or market updates.

Next came the great idea of Social Media. Undoubtedly, Facebook and Twitter have redefined what it means to be a social network. Beyond just the simple profiles, organization or company pages were offered as well. Even more recently with LinkedIn, companies can connect with each other and allow when agents are needed.

As this occurred real estate agencies took advantage of it creating pages and advertising their listings and other things that are going on. With more posts about things that keep readers interest, not just listings but community events as well, it brings more traffic. And more traffic. More traffic means more potential buyers, no pressure though.
