I would like to welcome you to my page and thank you for taking the time to see what Mike Deehr is all about. I originally grew up in a small town in North Dakota in a farming family. When I say small, I have only met one person who had a smaller graduating class than I did; my graduating class was 12 students. I grew up working on the family farm raising cattle, riding horses and farming grains, I also played baseball, softball and basketball when I had spare time and the farm work was done.
I have 3 great kids and am very involved in their lives. I have coached some of their teams but now it is much easier being a driver to the events and sitting back and watching them grow up. My children are active in many things so trying to keep up can be a challenge at times.
I joined the Air Force in Nov 1987 and after 24 great years, retired in Nov 2011. I have been stationed in CA, SC and NJ. I have been to over 60 countries in my travels and have been to 48 states. I have yet to go to Vermont or New Hampshire and as I have been in New Jersey since 2004, it is about time I finish that bucket list.
One of the most influential things that happened to me and I still try to apply it today happened when we were loading an airplane in CA. I was a young Loadmaster in the Air Force and the team leader came to load the aircraft with me and it was only her and a driver, meaning the only “loading crew” was her and I. I had gotten to know her very well and asked her what she would do if I was to take the regulation blatantly and stand back and just supervise, leaving her to load the aircraft by herself with me observing. She said it would take a long time. Then she turned to me and said something that truly made me think…”It is easier to get someone to work “with” you than it is to get them to work “for” you. I have never forgotten that night and have tried to apply that to all situations to the best of my abilities.
After retirement from the Air Force, I was looking for a job that would allow me some flexibility with my family life and since I have always liked real estate, I chose to become an agent with Exit Realty so I can finish school and spend time with my children whenever they have events. I joined Exit Realty because of the great program called Hero Home Source in which they offer incentives to Military, Police, Fire Fighters and Teachers. Being retired from the military, this program really hit home with me and I wanted to be a part of that program.
Currently I am finishing my master’s degree in Organizational Leadership at Rider University and spreading the word about our Hero Home Source program to as many people as I can. I am a full service real estate agent and can help you with all your real estate needs from buying to selling and helping support you even after we leave the closing table. I welcome you to contact me and I will help you answer all your questions about real estate when your need arises.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me and I look forward to working with you when you choose a time to buy or sell a home.
